Kitchen Cabinet Painting in Bourbonnais, IL Near Me

Painting changes the color of your existing cabinets while keeping the doors, boxes, and layout you already have. The finish you end up with is decided mostly by preparation: degreasing, sanding, filling dents and open grain, applying a bonding primer, and then building up thin coats of a cabinet-grade enamel. Sprayed finishes tend to look smoother than brushed ones, and ordinary wall paint is not designed to handle the daily wear that cabinets take. Popular choices in Bourbonnais, IL range from white and warm neutrals to deeper greens and navy, and sheen matters as much as color, since satin and semi-gloss hide fingerprints and wipe clean differently.
Several factors shape the outcome. Solid wood, MDF, laminate, and thermofoil each need a different prep approach for the paint to stick, and open-grain woods like oak will show texture through the paint unless the grain is filled first. Fresh paint can feel dry long before it has fully cured, so gentle use in the first couple of weeks helps the finish last. Painting is not the right fit when doors are warped, thermofoil is peeling, or the door style itself is what bothers you; refacing or door replacement may serve you better in those cases. Painting also pairs well with new pulls and soft-close hinges.
